| The town of Ærøskøbing is a cute little cobbled town straight out of the 17th century. The main part of town is protected, so they can't build any modern buildings here. It's a straight out of the past, like a living museum and quite a contrast to the 21st century room I'm staying in here. Let's just say it's a step or two above my room at the Cab Inn (where I also stayed in Odense). It's an apt. near the marina run by one of the hotels, but it's really more like a house. The bath room here is bigger than my entire room at the Cab Inn. It has a living room, huge kitchen, private patio, 2 bathrooms (1 with a jacuzzi tub), a suana, washer/dryer, 3 T.V.'s and a king sized bed. It's amazing. You can see more on the hotel website - www.aeroehus.dk.
There's a series of small, colored cottages just outside of town along the beach facing the sunset. At one time they were 'bathing cabins', for people to change in when they went swimming, but now they are just little cabins people use to sit and read in, relax, picnic or watch the sunset at. They are too small to stay in, and by law, you can't have a bed in them and use them for sleeping.
Today is my much deserved day off, and I'm going to take a bike ride around part of the island and go for swim in the Baltic. This place is so relaxing. It's the end of the tourist season so pretty quiet.
