Malmo town hall in the old town really old wooden house
I checked out of the Cab Inn this morning only to find out that I couldn't check into my new hotel until after 2:00. What to do? I dropped off my bags and decided to make a little side trip over to Sweden. I hadn't gone over the Oresund bridge yet, and was curious to see what the train trip is like to Malmo (only 20 min.). It ended up being pretty uneventful. I couldn't even see the bridge from the train, but the views of the water were nice as I crossed it.

I walked through the historical center of town and over to the 'Twisted Torso" - the tallest skyscraper in Scandinavia (over 600 ft.), designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. I'd seen pictures of it, and wanted to see it in person.

It was Sunday and the town was pretty dead, so I decided spur-o-the moment to do a circular tour back to Copenhagen (so much for my relaxing day). I took the train to Helsingborg, an hour north, where the ferries used to cross between Denmark and Sweden before the bridge was built. I did a quick walk through the town center (yawn), then hopped on the ferry for Helsingor, it's sister city on the Danish side, to see Hamlet's castle.
